Details for 10 Days Trekking in the Sahara Desert from Marrakech

• 10 days
• Group will be accompanied by Hassan Hisse
• Luggage will be carried by camels
• Breakfast, lunch, and dinners are included (except in Marrakech and Ouarzazate)
• Stays in a hotel in Marrakech and Ouarzazate and Ouled Driss, camping in a basic camp in the desert

We will start our trip in Marrakech and drive towards the Sahara. Where we will be accompanied by a cook and cameleers during this trip. We will camp in a fairly basic setting: bedding, matrasses, and toilet facilities are provided. On the last night of the trip (Ouled Driss), we will stay in a hotel. In Marrakech and Ouarzazate we will stay at a hotel.

Day 1: Arriving at Marrakech

Welcome to Morocco! Arrive at Marrakech, transfer from the airport, and stay at a comfortable hotel. Free time to discover the city.

Day 2: Marrakech to Ouarzazate

After breakfast, we will drive to Ourzazate. And stay in a hotel. Free time to discover the city.

Day 3: Talhatine Ait Ounir

We will walk to Talhatine Ait Ounir (a 4-hour walk), we will pass a stony plateau that looks like a moon landscape. A picnic lunch will be prepared by our cook. Dinner and camping will be in the small dunes in a beautiful environment. The camp itself will be fairly basic; bedding, matrasses, and toilet facilities are provided

Day 4: Erg Zahar

We will walk to Zahar (a 4-hour walk). Once we arrive at the camp we will walk to the big dune and enjoy the panoramic view. Dinner and camping will be in the camp.

Day 5: Ait Ounir

In the morning we will walk for about 3,5 hours. Some parts will be over a hard plateau, but most of the time we will walk in the dunes. After our picnic lunch, we will walk for another 1,5 hours in the dunes to the camp.

Day 6: Ras Enkhal

Today will be our longest walk: we will walk about 6,30 hours. The landscape will be both dunes and stony deserts. We will walk for 4 hours in the morning, enjoy our picnic lunch and walk for 2 more hours in the afternoon to our camp.

Day 7: Ouled Driss

During the morning we will walk (4,5 hours) and pass the old village Mhamid El Ghizlane. We will have lunch in a palm grove and go to our hotel; We will stay in hotel ‘Chez le Pacha’, with a swimming pool. In the afternoon we will have free-time

Day 8: The impressive Draa valley to Ouarzazate

Today we will return to Ouarzazate. We will pass Zagora and the Draa Valley, We will lunch in Agdez and visit the pottery cooperative which is the origin of pottery in the most southern part of Morocco. After that, we will have a 1-hour drive to Ouarzazate and go to our hotel. After that, you will have free time.

Day 9: Ouarzazate to Marrakech

Today we will return to Marrakech through the kasbah Ait Benhaddou. Centuries ago, this was an important stop for caravans carrying salt across the Sahara. Today its grand kasbah, a fine example of clay architecture, has been listed as a World Heritage site. Ait Benhaddou is also known as Yunkai in Game of Thrones. We will visit the Kasbah and admire the beautiful view from the top.

Ouarzazate on the edge of the Sahara desert in Morocco. Taken as dawn broke. Famous for its use as a set in many films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, Jewel of the Nile, Kingdom of Heaven, Kundun, and Alexander North Africa.

Day 10: Marrakech Departure Day

You will have free time in Marrakech and we will transfer you to the airport for your flight home.
